Description of your horse:

“SMURF” is a quiet natured, do anything kind of guy with personality plus! He is an unregistered ASH, branded and micro-chipped.

Smurf has been a real family horse. Purchased for my eldest daughter when she was 13 he became her first competitive horse, proving to be an exceptional all-rounder, excelling in ALL disciplines at pony club (including zone and state championships), interschools (North West Horse Expo, ISHE), EA ODE’s, camp drafting, time trials, working horse challenge and archery.

My younger daughter then competed Smurf at inter-schools and show jumping at the age of 10 while her horse was injured. Then I, (50+ nervous and novice!) competed him at low level ODE for a while, placing 3rd in the EVA60 at Nana Glen last year. We have had beginners ride Smurf on trails.

Smurf is fine in pairs or teams of four. Smurf is gentle and quiet, he will adjust to the capability of the rider but I wouldn’t claim he was bomb proof. He is fine to CFS and prepare for show, stables and behaves well away from home. Smurf is fine after time off but can be excitable over jumps without work.

Horse's experience to date and best performance:

Smurf is schooling elementary movements, leg yields, counter canter, shoulder in, trot and canter extension and travers established. We have only competed him to novice with scores usually between 65-72%. He has been show jumped to 1.1m. Smurf is particularly talented at A2 and speed rounds, even and rhythmical in 6 bar, can jump on an angle and be turned straight onto a jump. He performs very well in Jumping Equitation, is adjustable and soft.

He was my daughter's first eventing horse and they came 2nd in the EVA60 at ISHE their first comp and then went on to place at EVA 80 many times. Smurf evented to EVA95 prior to us. He never leaves a gymkhana or show ring without blue or red, always places in sporting and more often than not receives champion or reserve point score. Full list of performances are available.

What level of competition do you believe your horse can reach?:

Smurf has the ability to achieve Medium level movements with the right rider and will bring a young or new rider from start at EVA45 through to EVA95.
